The Great Rug Company, a family owned and operated business, opened in October 1989 with only 2500 sq. ft. in the Harwin Discount Center in Houston. The company was founded by Ed Friedman, retired Senior Vice President of Foley's. In September 1992 we moved to our new 12,000 sq. ft. showroom location at 3415 Fondren in Houston, (1 block south of Richmond). In April of 1999 we opened the new 10,000 square foot Austin store located at 7501 Burnet Rd.
